Hi guys
I’ve just downloaded and activated the theme. I’m currently reading through the documentation.
Firstly I’d like to know if it is crucial for me to import the demo content? will this allow me to modify my theme easier? If so, its not working ๐
Ive tried to add the full demo content through the split files however most of the files are coming back as ‘failed’. Is there another way to do this?
and can someone link me to some video tutorials for this theme if there are any?
Thank you.

ThanksSeptember 12, 2014 at 10:29 pm #110263Hi Guys,
I love your theme, but I really miss instructional videos on the Neighborhood theme. There seems to be only one. Why is that?September 13, 2014 at 3:03 am #110284Hi @Malaika
We didn’t have much time with Neighborhood release to do videos, but we have since detailed a lot in subsequent themes – most of which are applicable with Neighborhood. We also have the knowledgebase here: http://support.swiftideas.net/section/neighborhood-2/
What exactly are you looking for help with?

September 14, 2014 at 10:58 pm #110462Hi guys,
I’ve set up my site and believe to have set up the demo content using the documentation, however, I’m wondering if having installed the demo xml, I should have my site looking as the neighbourhood default I saw before purchase, or wether my home page would be empty as my attached screenshots and it was up for me to build the pages up, including the home page.
Just need to make sure I’m all good to proceed.
Also, should I have more menu content than I already have or it all begins with me creating the pages myself, with the demo content all set up already.
Hope I make sense.
Thank you very much.
Essentially, my question would be, after going through the demo setup and slider setup, should my website be pre-filled like the default site prior to my purchase of the theme.

Once import complete, you’ll need to set the menu in Appearance > Menus, and the homepage in Settings > Reading.

September 15, 2014 at 10:16 am #110617Thanks Ed,
I have managed to import the full demo content by leaving out the attachments as I believe I can’t increase my max time limit from 30 secs or something on my hosting was preventing me from downloading the full demo with it’s attachments.
I believe I can go ahead with it now as I have all the content but the attachments. So I can get my head around progressing with it. I would have tried importing the full content in smaller chunks with the attachments but I think doing so will give me double menus so I should be fine.
Alternatively do you suggest anything to get all demo content with attachments? If I was to flush my database tables and re-started again, using the chunks of the demo content, do you reckon I could get the attachments included as well or do you think something on my hosting would prevent me from doing it.
I’m on a shared hosting so most variables you guys are suggesting to increase may not be possible for my provider to do for me.
Thank you.
September 15, 2014 at 12:07 pm #110685Hi,
Even with that 30seconds limitation you can try to upload the same xml file without diving it into smaller chunks.
Let’s say that in the first try you import 50 images, those 50 images will not be imported again in other import process because they are already there. Will you probably see a message saying that image already exists. In the end just delete the duplicate menus/pages, guess it will be easier than separate the XML files.
Let us know the result and if you need help because of the duplicated menus.-Rui
September 15, 2014 at 8:00 pm #110924Hi Ed, that’s the thing. Right now I ask you for help with every tiny issue. And eventhough you reply quickly, I feel so dependent. But I did notice the other themes have a lot of answers that equal the Neighborhood theme. Am now wondering if I couldn’t have bought Cardinal better. I love the flatness of Neighborhood and the magazine feel to it, but I think I could use Cardinal to do the same and have more options like the transparent header that turns into a colour when scrolling. Is this correct? Thanks in advance!
September 15, 2014 at 8:49 pm #110938Hi @Malaika
That’s what we are here for though ๐
Cardinal does have more/newer functionality as it is one of our latest generation themes, and naturally we feel we improve with each theme.
