January 29, 2014 at 7:43 pm #45629Hi Melanie,
My breadcrumb feature is not working properly. Here’s what I have done:
1) The website:
2) Running your FlexForm theme 1.5.3 (about to update to 1.6)
3) Plugin NavXT came with FlexForm theme so I activated it
4) Also have Yoast SEO downloaded and I activated breadcrumbs from inside this plugin. Yoast SEO provides a php piece of code to “add to your theme”. It doesn’t say where! Here is the CODE Yoast provides: <?php if ( function_exists(‘yoast_breadcrumb’) ) { yoast_breadcrumb(‘<p id=”breadcrumbs”>’,'</p>’); } ?>
5) I have tried adding this code to both the header and page.php files. It did not work. The code shows up at the top of the page but the breadcrumb is up there too along with the another version of it belwo the header!
6) The only thing that is kinda working as you can see here http://magnoliadds.com/staging/ is the Prefix “Go To”, then the “Home”, and then whatever page I am on. So it looks like this “To To Home >> Our Mission. After I leave Our Misson page, it does NOT show “Mission” anymore, just the next page. So the breadcrumb trail as you move from page to page is not working.Do you know what is wrong with my set up? Should I activate NavXT and deactivate Yoast SEO? Can both be active?
Thanks for any help, this has got me stumped. – Bart
February 3, 2014 at 11:31 am #46416Can you specify “not working properly”?
February 3, 2014 at 5:16 pm #46481Melanie,
I tried to explain what was “not working” with my Breadcrumbs in my Flexform theme above in 6), sorry I wasn’t more clear. Please try to reply sooner that took 5 days to hear back. Here is my site http://magnoliadds.com/staging/our-mission/.THE PROBLEM WITH BREADCRUMBS
NavXT comes with Flexform as a way to show Breadcrumbs. However, Ed on ThemeForest forum said to disable NavXT and run my Yoast SEO plugin for Breadcrumbs. I did and that helped but the problem of not seeing the “path of previous pages visited” still exists. The Breadcrumb feature is only showing the current page after the Home page, which makes it useless for useres, since you can see up top what page you are on. Please take a look at the site. I need the “path” of pages to show in the Breadcrumbs.MY SET UP
In the Yoast SEO setting under “Internal Links” there is an option to “Enable Breadcrumbs”. This is checked. I also checked the “Bold the last page in the breadcrumb” so you can see that is working. I also added a Prefix to the Breadcrumb path “Back To” and that is working. But there appears to be no option to show “Pages” under “Taxonomy to show in breadcrumbs”. So it looks like this “Go To Home >> Our Mission. After I leave Our Mission page, it does NOT show “Mission” anymore, just the next page. So the breadcrumb “path” as you move from page to page is not working.Do you know what is wrong with my set up? Which plugin should I use? I have tried flipping it so NavXT is enabled and Yoast SEO is not. That didn’t work. I have tried to reach out to Yoast SEO still waiting.
Thanks for your help on my Breadcrumb problem.
BartFebruary 7, 2014 at 7:43 am #47206I’ll forward this to the developer 🙂
February 7, 2014 at 8:52 pm #47342Thank you for looking into this. By the way your Flexform demo site is working perfectly! So maybe, just maybe it is a plugin conflict?… checking …. NOPE that’s not it.
The website in question has been launched so the new url is: http://www.magnoliadds.com

February 7, 2014 at 9:44 pm #47347hello Bart,
I had this problem too…I believe it may be a settings issue…I am no pro at this…and you have probably tried this already…but maybe try this?…
Go to the… Settings>>>Breadcrumb NAVxT
Go to …Post Type
Play with the Products section and the “Product Archive Display” and “Product Hierarchy Display”
I have included screen shots….
Hope that helps?!
David
February 7, 2014 at 9:56 pm #47352Bart,
Sorry also you can change the Product Hierarchy to product category…if “tag” is chosen it pulls the “simple” page.
February 8, 2014 at 2:25 am #47370Thanks Thealeman for your ideas.
I have the latest NavXT plugin Version: 5.0.1 and I don’t see a “Product section”. Where do you find that exactly? It’s not under “Post Types” in my plugin.
The attachment shows that my version of NavXT shows a version 5.0 that was a compatibility layer they put out, like a patch until 5.0.1 came out. I don’t have the patch turned on, only the new plugin. This may be the issue as well.
Anyway, I will wait to hear what the developer says at Swift Ideas before I go out and add a different plugin.
Bart
February 8, 2014 at 2:29 am #47372Maybe get 5.0.1 ? That is what I am running… I had the patch thing too…But I updated.
February 8, 2014 at 2:31 am #47373Sorry, Just looked at your attachment…
Yes, I had the exact same thing in my plugin screen…I activated the 5.0.1 and then deactivated the patch.
Then I fixed the settings
February 8, 2014 at 2:38 am #47374This is what I did anyway…
