Hi,
We updated the theme recently to Dante Version 3.3.32 (we hadn’t updated in 2 yrs) and since updating the website keeps crashing and has a 66 Performace D, and 33.60seconds to load ( so slow). This is was done via the https://tools.pingdom.com
I feel we have done everything to make the website faster including increasing hosting to double RAM ( didn’t make a difference) eveything is was already on unlimited hosting, we have added Autoptimize plugin to help speed things up.( This only gave us a performance grade of 76 C but speed was even slower at 33.85sec).
I switched off woocommerce and the performance was better at 83 B but still speed 35.49secs.
So I decided to deactivate Dante theme and speed changed to 11.30secs. Help, this is terrible…. we have harved our clientele this week cause website keeps crashing. How can this be fixed?
Previously before the upgrade to the lastest version 3.3.32 we have had no issues with speed.
Thank you kindly for your time.

not sure if you reverted something but your site seems very fast to me.
In my browser it took about 2 seconds to load, an usually when reaching sites in Australia it takes me a bit more since I’m in Portugal.
I also tested in pingdoom tools but it seems slower there, not sure what is the accuracy of it(i usually trust in their analysis)

March 9, 2017 at 3:16 pm #316617You are testing at midnight when no visitors on on the site. The site has been crashing and is very slow, I spoke to my hosting company and they have ruled out malware, they say it has to be that the latest theme I updated the site with must not have been optimized completely.
March 9, 2017 at 3:29 pm #316619nothing in the theme would cause a 33 second delay, and we not having any issues like that with any Dante site.
If the site is slower with a lot of visitors then it’s something in your hosting speed that can’t handle the requests. Will forward to our head developer to see what he says.

March 9, 2017 at 3:31 pm #316621Please run through these speed recomendations:
– Install WP Super Cache or BWP Minify.
– Ask your host to enable gzip compression
– Consider serving your resources from a CDN such as MaxCDN
– The Autoptimize plugin is great to further minify your assets: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/.
– Before uploading images, be sure you correctly save them for web. Consider installing and running this compression plugin to reduce image size: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/
– Please read this great article on How to Fix: Parallelize Downloads Across Hostnames Warning
– If you are using a cheap hosting provider your site will never be super, super fast – consider WPEngine if you want pure speed improvements.
Thanks.
March 10, 2017 at 12:56 am #316701Just found this error
[07-Mar-2017 02:34:29 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 93 bytes) in /home/savvymedia/sydneyphysioclinic/wp-includes/meta.php on line 838

[09-Mar-2017 04:00:28 UTC] WordPress database error Lost connection to MySQL server during query for query SELECT option_value FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ‘layerslider-validated’ LIMIT 1 made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-load.php’), require_once(‘wp-config.php’), require_once(‘wp-settings.php’), include_once(‘/plugins/LayerSlider/layerslider.php’), get_optionDoes that mean I should disable the LayerSlider from your theme? How will it effect the website look?
March 10, 2017 at 1:26 am #316702Hi @natking
The only error to worry about is the memory error – that is an issue. Please check this guide: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/increasing-the-wordpress-memory-limit/

March 10, 2017 at 2:54 am #316711– Thank you, I have increased memory as above. still no change.
– I have deactivated LayerSlider. No difference.
———————————————————-
– Install WP Super Cache or BWP Minify.
[I had already installed WP Super Cache as you can see in my backend but had to deactivate because it makes the ‘Client’ logo disappear.]– Ask your host to enable gzip compression
[Will look into this now]– The Autoptimize plugin is great to further minify your assets: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/.
[As I said I already have this installed.]– Before uploading images, be sure you correctly save them for web. Consider installing and running this compression plugin to reduce image size: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/
[These have always been saved for web and correct size since the beginning when the website first started.]– Please read this great article on How to Fix: Parallelize Downloads Across Hostnames Warning
[I dont get this error when I use https://tools.pingdom.com, so should be an issue there]– If you are using a cheap hosting provider your site will never be super, super fast – consider WPEngine if you want pure speed improvements.
[We upgraded last night from Shared Hosting to a VPS server and still no difference.]————————————
I guess now my only option is to delete your theme and start the website again from scratch using a different theme. I’ve been working on this for the last 12 hrs with no sleep with both yourself theme developer and host company and no luck for a random downtime and slowness on a website since upgrading theme. seems odd to me. feeling a little frustrated. But thanks so much for your quick responses much appreciated.
March 10, 2017 at 10:25 am #316731Hi @natking
I completely understand your frustration – however the issue doesn’t point to a theme error, given how quickly it loads once the host responds – https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/eqPKq1/http://www.sydneyphysioclinic.com.au/
Who are you hosting with, out of interest?
