Hello hello,
I’d like to say thanks for all the help I’ve gotten so far from other forum members and the admins/developers. This forum alone makes this theme worth purchasing.
Now, for some reason some translations I’ve made using WPML’s string translation won’t appear on the front-end.
I’m specifically referring to:
-The word “Categories” under the product code in a product page.
-The attribute name e.g. Size. On the product page it appears as “select size” but only the word select is translated.
-“Returns & exchange” on the “My Account” page.Let me know if you’ll require any credentials as the site is in maintenance mode.
Thanks!
ENovember 1, 2013 at 8:19 pm #29644Hi,
You can edit those in the .po files, http://support.swiftideas.net/forums/topic/theme-options-translation/
Try this too: http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/theme-localization/
Let me know, what you got.
Thanks,
laranz.November 2, 2013 at 1:59 pm #29671Hi Laranz,
I’ve tried translating the strings and my settings are ‘Translate by WPML’, not ‘Translate using .mo files.’ I’ve already translated hundreds of strings so I don’t want to have to start all over again just because the few strings I mentioned above are not optimised to be translated from the theme developers (they’re probably not wrapped in gettext calls or something?), and I don’t know how to do that.
Could you please give me some detailed directions as to how I can fix these strings myself or an updated version of the theme?
Thanks!
November 4, 2013 at 11:11 am #29802Hi there,
What version are you using? These should all be working in the latest version. You won’t lose progress, as you can simply update the files. Make sure you backup first just incase.

Have you had the time to look at my site? I’ve tried everything but the strings just don’t work!
November 6, 2013 at 1:49 pm #30200Hi Laranz,
Question. If I create an .mo and a .po in my 2nd language (using PO edit just to translate a couple of strings that for some reason aren’t getting translated using WPML) and add those files to the theme’s language folder where en_Us.mo and en_US.po are located, will any of the string translations I’ve already made using “Translate by WPML” be lost since they were’t made using “Translate using .mo files.”?
WPML is also asking for the text domain value in order to use the .mo translation.
Also, how can I backup my database incase something goes wrong?
Thanks!
November 7, 2013 at 7:35 am #30284Hi,
Elias, Ed will sure keep you in contact with you soon.
Can you tell me what are the strings that are missed by WPML? Can you list 3or4, So I can look whats on the issue in my side.. also make sure your theme is up-to-date.
Let me know, what you got.
Thanks,
laranz.November 7, 2013 at 11:40 am #30313The “Returns and exchange” string on the checkout page somehow managed to fix itself (initially it appeared in the string translation table but it wouldn’t show properly in the front end).
I managed to fix the attribute title string (1st screenshot above). This wouldn’t translate properly due to the language mode of WPML when the attributes were created apparently…I deleted the old size attribute and did it over again and it finally worked.
Now what is left is the 3rd screenshot, which is the string “Categories:” on the product page.
Kind of irrelevant to strings translation but do you know if it’s possible to:
1)add a size chart/guide link somewhere near the buy now button?
2)add a subscribe to newsletter link at checkout? Thanks
November 7, 2013 at 8:44 pm #30397Hi,
1. You mean the return and exchange modal text or the returns & exchange text itself? the Returns & exchange is in .po file. so its showing correctly now or still not?
2. Great ๐
3. The category/categories is inside the woocommerce, did you try translate the woocommerce? its inside \wp-content\themes\neighborhood\woocommerce\single-product\meta.php4. There is no easy way add those size chart, but you can try altering the files directly. in wp-content\themes\neighborhood\woocommerce\content-product.php it is responsible for the single product display.
5. Where you want it exactly?
Let me know, what you got.
Thanks,
laranz.November 8, 2013 at 11:21 am #30470For backups check this link for some plugins – http://www.stateofdigital.com/top-6-wordpress-backup-plugin-recommendations-for-2013/
Laranz I think you’ve got the rest covered?

November 8, 2013 at 1:52 pm #30495I meant the returns & exchange text itself. It just wouldn’t translate for some reason through WPML string translation so I just added it to the .po file which I then uploaded to the theme/languages folder. I think that ‘s what fixed it.
3. If I translate that through woocommerce it wouldn’t have the ability to be multilingual right? It’d only display one language. How else can I do it and why is it not appearing translated when I do it through wpml string translation?
4. I might just add it to the additional info tab then as my php isn’t great. Is it possible to add html/an image in that additional info section of the product page?
5. I wanted the subscribe to newsletter checkbox at the bottom of the checkout page where payment takes place.
6. One more thing. On the ‘my account’ page everything translates great except the order statuses. I’ve attached an image.
Thanks!
@Ed
Thanks. I’ll check those out.

November 14, 2013 at 6:19 pm #31370Hi,
Sorry I somehow missed this thread, apologies.
3. You can use this steps to translate woocommerce: http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
4. Yes you can directly add HTML/image ๐
5. There is no easy way to do that, there are some premium plugins available there to do that, you can Google those.
6. Again those are from woocommerce, follow the step 3. and let me know what you got. Thanks,
laranz. -
