Hi, I have created a custom post type for ‘Events’.

However, I can’t seem to create a standard, editable page that is called the same thing as my new custom post type. I just want a standard page that I can use shortcodes on. Instead, the Dante theme seems to create an archive for the slug of the custom field that uses the masonry components to display any items. If I add archive-events.php to my child theme I can edit the page template for the page, but it is still missing the WYSIWYG editor functionality from the admin area.

How can I have a standard editable page for my custom post type?

    Thanks
    Chris

It’s not possible: the archive page for a custom post type is managed by a generic template – see WP theme hierarchy – and default name is archive-[post type slug].php
If you want to create an editable page listing the posts, you need to create a page template – https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/template-files-section/page-template-files/page-templates/ – then a page and chose the template.
