Hi. I am using a plugin to add a custom field to my product pages – The custom fields work fine on variable products but not on simple products – I started out using “wc custom fields” plugin, and when I saw the problem I bought a premium plugin from Codecanyon named “Woo-Commerce Custom Fields & Product Add-ons”
Unfortunately the problem still existed and still when I de activated all plugins. However, when I disable the Atelier theme the problem, was solved. I don’t see anything in my error log to indicate the conflict.
The url above shows a simple product with a “Ring Size” field – If you enter a ring size and add to cart you will see that the value is not saved – This is meant to be a required field however I have had to set it to not required in order to bypass the validation fail.
Can you help with this?

Can’t see this having anything to do with the theme, please check this issue with WooCommerce support

December 17, 2015 at 4:31 am #236101Hi Kyle – I was away on holidays and this seems to have gotten overlooked.
Sorry, but doesn’t the fact that the field data saves with any theme other than ATELIER indicate that the problem has something to do with the theme?
It couldn’t be any other conflict as turning off all plugins does not solve the problem, but switching to twentyfourteen theme does, as described in my original post.
I hope you can help, an example of the field data not being saved can be found here: https://www.celticimpressions.com/product/gift-certificates/ . In this example I am not even using the aforementioned “Woo-Commerce Custom Fields & Product Add-ons” Which shows that text-field data in general is not being saved on product pages (in this case the gift-voucher amount is not being saved which prevents the customer from adding to cart)
Best regards, Fiachra
December 17, 2015 at 4:44 am #236102I have also replicated the problem on my local computer on a clean wp-install with the latest version of the ATELIER theme (unmodified) installed. This is very urgent as the shop is live at the moment
Many thanks. Fiachra
December 18, 2015 at 12:59 pm #236484Please add a WP login so we can take a look.
I have tested adding custom fields to my dev version for both variable and standard products and I can add/save new custom fields fine.
Thanks.
December 18, 2015 at 2:19 pm #236507Ok, here is another test install. You can do what you like with it as it is only temporary.
login: http://irishmusictours.com/wp-admin
username: admin
password: fieldtestYou can see two affected products on this site each using different plugins to get the fields:
http://irishmusictours.com/product/ring-sample/
http://irishmusictours.com/product/gift-certificate/December 18, 2015 at 2:21 pm #236508In case you misunderstood, I can indeed add and save custom fields, the problem is that the data that users enter into the custom fields is not saved.
December 18, 2015 at 3:34 pm #236517Hi,
Theme Options => WooCommerce Options => Product Options => Add to cart ajax => Disabled
Disable the add to cart AJAX for simple products on the product page. This may be required for compatibility with 3rd party plugins.
Thanks.
December 18, 2015 at 3:54 pm #236528Excellent. Thanks for this solution. If only Kyle had been as helpful at the beginning of the tread, but the problem is solved. Many thanks for a great theme
December 18, 2015 at 3:58 pm #236530No problem, glad you have it working!
Thanks.
February 2, 2016 at 10:43 pm #245860Hi,
I also had this problem. But I also tested it again WooCommerce’s own WooCommerce Product Add-ons plugin. Is a WooCommerce plugin considered “3rd Party”.
I know this is a complex issue, but to revert back to a non-ajax cart experience is not too appealing to me. What are your thoughts?
Mark
February 4, 2016 at 2:44 pm #246444Hi Mark,
Yes that plugin is by a developer other than us so it’s 3rd party. You would need Ajax off for this.
Thanks.
February 4, 2016 at 11:59 pm #246588ok – do you have an in-house plugin/solution for adding extra fields?
secondly, do you have a plugin/solution that allows Ajax add to cart for Variable products, not just single?
February 5, 2016 at 10:46 am #246646Hi there,
Unfortunately we do not (for both), you will need to hire a developer to make these customisations, you can do so here:
Thanks.
