    Hi Guys,

do I need to change anything in the child theme for the google analytics tracking working properly?

Somehow the visits are not being calculated any more after I did the update last week.

    Did anyone experience this before?

    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,

How did you insert the tracking code? Did you add it to the child theme file?

I would always recomend this functionality be kept in a plugin to avoid this happening: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-analytics/

    Thanks,
    David.

Hi David – I inserted the tracking code via the theme options – general options. If I understand the architecture correctly then the function ‘Framework includes’ is pulled via the footer.php, which has not changed as far as I can see.

I try to avoid to use an additional plugin, if the functionality is given by the theme.

Any ideas in whereabout I’d have to change anything for it to pull the tracking code?

    Cheers

What is your URL and WP login?

    Thanks,
    David.

    Hey Guys,

since the implementation via the theme options – general options didn’t work, I implemented the code manually to the footer.php.

It works now, certainly not ideal, but it works.

    Cheers

Sounds like a JS conflict. I would need to login and take a close look.

As mentioned a plugin is recommended for this, the analytics code does not belong at theme level for many reasons, one being this and avoiding future update issues.

    Thanks,
    David.
