  Hi, I have uploaded 273 product images but when I download them via FTP, I realize it has been increase to 1700+ and a quick check it seems that WordPress automatically create thumbnail sizes of each product image say 150×150 and 300×300 etc. but in the WooCommerce product display I have already set 800 x 800 for featured image and my uploaded image are exact 800 x 800, how do I stop WordPress from creating other sizes of each image?

  Hi,

  That’s the way WordPress works, it generates several image sizes according to what the theme requires.
  Thumbnail’s, Portfolio images, etc.

  Hi there, can you show me a way to prevent those additional thumbnails from generating? because I only use WooCommerce and only need product images, thanks. If WordPress generate portfolio thumbnails and more etc, in future when I upload more product images for my store, it will be a big impact as the site is on shared hosting.

  The thumbnails are used in several widgets and in several blog page formats.
  Are you sure you won’t’ use any of blog and portfolio, testimonials, etc features?

  Will check the necessary code, then you probably just have to remove it and use a plugin to re-generate all the images.

  Hi, can I check the cart product thumbnail is controlled by the functions.php file or? I’m trying to adjust the size for it. Also for WordPress media settings, I have set to 0 for all thumbnails so it won’t generate the default additional thumbnails sizes, and in functions.php file I noticed a couple of add_image_size define, isit safe for me to remove a few lines that I don’t need e.g blog as my site is solely an online store without any blog or stuffs. Thanks.

  WooCommerce images are set in the plugin, WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Display
