Sorry if this seems basic, but I cannot figure out what is going on here.

The alert and notification messages do not appear on form errors or submission. The <div> displays and the border box is there. The text is there, but simply will not display.

I thought colors at first, but that is not it. Something is preventing the text from showing on the page.

Fill out the form without a required field and you’ll see what I mean.

    Thanks!

    Hi

Can you check with the default theme installed to see if it’s the same?

Hey Kyle, sorry for the delay.

Using twentyfifteen, the Contact Form 7 on the same page works exactly as expected.
Back to Cardinal and/or Child theme of Cardinal and the notifications no longer show.

    Hi,

    Please simply add this:

    div.wpcf7-validation-errors { font-size: 14px; }

    Thanks,
    David.

Thanks David! Sorry, I’m not sure how I missed that.

I’ll tell you I searched for that for an hour and couldn’t see why it wasn’t appearing.

Out of curiosity, can you tell me how you discovered that so quickly? Is there a place (that you know of) that Cardinal was overwriting (not setting) the font-size property?

Glad it’s sorted. I just forwarded to David so he can explain it to you.

    Hey,

I just used Chrome inspector, I knew the actual text was output correct as I could see it in the source so it was just a case of finding what was causing the text to be hidden.

It took a bit of searching through the CSS, eventually I found the font size was being set to 0, which meant it did not display.

    Cheers,
    David.
