    hi guys,

I dont really know how the email share button is supposed to work but right now it does the following things.

When pressed in chrome it does absolutely nothing. No box shows up, no error message…just nothing.

when pressed in internet explorer a box pops up and says ” could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed.

    First question, is this normal?

And second question, if this is normal, is there any way we can send it directly to gmail? or any other email service so people don’t think the button is broken?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Where do you have that button? can’t find it.
It’s using the mailto function and that only works if there is email client installed on the computer of the website visitor.

    RUI,

yes that’s the button i am talking about. Any alternative to use maybe gmail client to open up when that button is pressed without adding to much code?

Because in chrome if the mail client isn’t installed on the computer nothing happens when the button is pressed. not even a message pop up. So people i would suspect will think its broken. I don’t know of to many people using local email clients anymore which would make a lot of people confused.

    Thanks for all your help.

That’s the way it works the mailto function. That function is interpreted fists by the browser then it’s interpreted and processed by the operating system, nothing we can control if doesn’t exist one email client installed in the computer.

It will open the client email that the is set on the computer, so if the user has a gmail app has is email client it should open.

This can have different behaviours due to the browser settings
Paste the link below in Chrome
