    Hi,

    We’re having trouble placing some custom jQuery code to be run after the DOM loads. We’ve tried placing a test “document ready – alert” code in various places within pages like Header, Footer, Index, Functions, but it doesn’t seem to work. Neither can we find a “custom javascript” field in the theme options (only a “custom css” field under “General” tab).

    Where is best place to include custom jQuery/javascript code?

    Hey, I’d recommend putting it in the head section of header.php

    Cheers!

    Hello Melanie, I’m having a similar issue as 8000plus. Correct me if I’m wrong but adding something to the header.php file will be lost next time the theme is updated. How can I add custom javascript or css file to the <head></head> of a page without losing it after an update? I’d like to kno how to do this site wide and on a specific page. Thanks!

    Hey, feel free to use our child theme that we bundled with the theme 🙂

    Thank you Melanie. I’m i bit new to child themes so I didn’t realize that you could put a copy of any file in the child theme folder, I thought it could only be a css file so thanks of clearing that up. I have one other question;

    In the Neighborhood theme under Theme Options->General Options there is a place for Custom CSS. I notice that adding thins here doesn’t add it to the child theme style.css document. How does this not get deleted during updates (I’m presuming it won’t be deleted is this correct?)?

    Hi

    Glad Melanie helped you with this! As for the second question, no it does not save in the Child Theme css. If you are using a child theme I would just make sure changes in the style.css file. The custom css field is saved in the database, this is why it does not get overwritten.

    Hope this helps
