For variable products, the image gallery is displaying peculiar behaviour that I find difficult to explain. Have a look at this product:

Firstly – when you hover over the main image to zoom, the image doesn’t zoom but you can move around a duplicate image. Try it. This is not the same for the other images in the gallery, which at first do nothing when you hover over them.

Secondly – when you select a different colour from the dropdown, the main images changes to that colour – but the thumbnail in the gallery below it does not. When you click the first thumbnail, the main image changes to the selected colour, not that of the thumbnail. This is rather ugly and unexpected.

Thirdly – once you’ve selected a different colour, for the other images in the gallery the mouseover zoom function now works as expected. The main image, however, does not.

This strange behaviour only occurs on a large screen, reducing the window size seems to remedy the problem. However, the first image in the gallery being the ‘wrong’ colour remains an issue.

NB: I’m using Chrome for Windows 7

    Hi,

Try to upload a bigger image, the zoom effect will be the difference of the size of the image in the page and the size of the image you uploaded.

Regarding the thumbnail of the first image will have to forward the situation to the development team.

    Any update on this?

Also, I’m having an issue in this forum – I click ‘make new post’ and nothing happens. I just had a go on Firefox too (I’m on Chrome) and same problem.

    But my query:

Can you display variable product variations as separate products in category pages? They would all link to the same product page, ideally with the preferred attribute pre-selected.

I want to bulk out my sparse category pages by showing the numerous colour variations for our products in them, a feature I’ve seen in most fashion sites but haven’t worked out how to achieve in woocommerce.

    Hi

I’m not aware that this functionality is available with WooCommerce, but you’re best asking them if it’s possible
