    Hello,

I purchased (and installed) the Dante theme for a client, who’s site was hacked and who wanted to scrap and rebuild. Fortunately we were able to clean up the existing site, so we haven’t switched to Dante yet. However, the client now wants a bilingual site and so it would make sense to switch to Dante, but I have no idea how that will affect the existing pages. Do you have any information on doing a theme switch? Is there a way to only apply the Dante theme to certain functions, like the navigation per example?

All the tutorials and theme documentation addresses new/clean installation, but can you provide documentation for a theme switch?

    thanks,
    Rossitza

    Hi,

Unfortunately the themes can’t be active only for certain functionality.
But just didn’t understand what is the actual theme of your customer site?

It was done by someone else and from what I can tell (with my limited knowledge) is that it was customized, but the starting point may have been the Twenty Ten WordPress theme.

I just want to get a idea of what will happen if I activate the Dante theme. There are a lot of pages with sidebar menus which show up sub-items and I don’t know what will happen with these in Dante.

I could provide you with the login if that would allow you to see the structure and let me know if a theme switch would mess up all the pages.

I am planning to rebuild the home page, contact page, the navigation, top bar, etc. with the Dante styling and features but it’s the bulk of the content – all the pages in the ABOUT US, ELECTRIC, RAIL, OIL & GAS sections that I hope will not get broken.

    Hi,

You won’t break anything if you want to try how it looks. But you only get the most from Dante theme by using all the theme options and using the Swift Page Builder.
My advice is to stick with your current theme in the production site, and start a fresh install to start the development of your site in Dante.

Then you can export the content(pages/posts) to this new development site so the content is there to help you build the site in Dante.

You can also use our demo content an then replace the pages you like by your text/images.

right. what about the sidebar menus? will I be able to replicate the current setup – which shows a drop down of sub pages?

It wouldn’t be quite like that, there is a standard WordPress Menu widget for you to use
