  I was able to change the colors of the main menu text as well as the color of the ext when hovering. But once the link is selected it turns the default greenish color still and stays that color. How do I change that?

  If I understood correctly you want to change the select item color.
  If so add the code below to you custom css option, adjusting it to your desired color.
