The site I’m working on is a non-profit that has members. I’m using Gravity forms with the User Registration add-on tying into Budddypress to show member profiles. BIG problem, the visibility settings aren’t working. I had set defaults for Only Me (user), Members only or Everyone. Things like the member address, username and such should NOT be viewable to anyone member or not – however, it is. Yikes! Any idea what could be going on? I’ll post the URL and login in the next private message.

    Thanks,
    Kendall

Wondering if you can take a look at this today – it’s a pretty big privacy bug.

    Thanks,

OK – it seems that once the user/member fills out the Gravity form/user registration ALL of their profile information is available and it ignores all the visibility settings that we set in the back end under the buddypress profile fields area. Only when, it seems, that a user/member goes back into their profile to edit it does their profile then adhere to the visibility settings.

Given that we are on the verge of hundreds of members going through this process – the default visibility needs to work without making users go back into their profile to make it work.

    Thanks,
    Kendall

    Hi,

Not sure if this is related to the theme, but will forward it to the development team.

    Hi @QuenchStudio

Which version of Cardinal are you using? Can you check within the /cardinal/buddypress folder, you should only see these files: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kb4xeh1mxquov4k/Screenshot%202014-10-02%2018.43.47.png?dl=0

That has changed recently, so you may have an old version which is why you are seeing these issues. With the latest version, nothing in the theme would cause these.

I have the current version – 1.80. And I checked the folders – I only have those two files you listed. Is is a compatibility issue with Gravity user registration and buddypress?

Could you try Twenty Fourteen theme real quick to see if you get the same issue?

Will doing that ruin any kind of setup? widget placement, etc.?

when you guys deactivated the child theme to see if there was a spacing issue – when you reactivated it, we lost all our custom widgets. Concerned that will happen again.

I also went through and turned every plugin off and the problem persisted.

Sounds like an issue with the Gravity Form integration then – you’d need to take it up with them.

    Hope that helps.

But all of the visibility settings are handled through BP profile fields – not GF.

Hmm, well does it work ok without the Gravity Forms integration? If not, then it will be an issue with BuddyPress I can only assume.
